Many students who maybe unaware of the competencies may find that the real world career in that particular field is not their cup of tea. One has to be first comfortable in the career before mastering the skills and knowledge. Otherwise, it is like putting the cart before the horse. Competency mapping can help choose the right career becasue that is the most important thing in life as a majority of waking hours go towards that- http://mypyp.wordpress.com/ I wholeheartely agree.
